Graduate Photographer Jon Willetts
Blackpool and the Fylde College graduate photographer Jon Willetts takes the Business Boom stage today with his recent university work. Jon is now looking to self-publish his own book as well as work on any collective projects.
“I have just completed a BA Hons degree at Blackpool and the Fylde College, receiving upper second-class honors in photography. My most recent works have been documentary based and tend to focus on subjects, which may seem mundane but often have a fascinating story to tell.
My last project was based around the lives of a group of Benedictine Nuns living in relative seclusion near the village of Hyning. I focused on their daily routine, their rites, rituals and missives and also in turn how these things were reflected in the space, which they lived and worshiped. I combined images with sections of text used in their daily readings in order to show a deeper connection between the space, their lives and their routine. This project is still ongoing and it is my hope to work with more groups similar to Hyning Monastery in the near future.
Alongside this I am working on a number of other projects, including working with found and archival imagery/text, in addition to a number of works using experimental processes. All of which are updated regularly via both my blog and twitter account. I am also looking into self-publishing a book of my own work and hoping to work with other artists and practitioners in collective based projects.”
