Business Boom Bolton

For some time, Tanya Miller of local business ‘Cards with a Difference’ has been looking to expand beyond selling just greeting cards. Having recently watched a demonstration of Zentangle art, Tanya has become hooked and has now created her own designs in the form of bookmarks that are available to purchase off her site. What’s more, she has also designed some wonderful encaustic wax pictures, which are also available. Here are a few examples of her recent work.

“I have always been interested in developing my business further than just cards and this led me into thinking what else I could do. About nine years ago I was heavily into making pictures with wax (encaustic wax) and so thought this was an obvious way for me to expand the business. I have created a few pictures which are now for sale on my website and plan on selling these as art work which people can then frame to hang on their wall as they see fit. I have also made some landscape pictures into cards which are now for sale at Lizzie Mars Gifts in Crompton Place, Bolton and will soon have some cards on my website too. For the time being I am sticking to landscapes but will be venturing soon into abstract colourful paintings and maybe some flowers too. I am on the lookout for stockists who may want to sell my wax paintings.

This led me onto thinking what else could I do and when I was contacted by a friend recently to design some birth certificates for her reborns, as she is a reborn artist (baby dolls that look very lifelike), and further being contacted by somebody who enquired if I did christening invitations, I thought I would expand the business even further and start creating invitations and announcements too.

 For the time being I have created birth announcements for baby boy, baby girl and twins, baby shower party invites, new home announcements, children’s birthday party invitations. I plan to expand in the near future into christening invitations, engagement announcements, save the date, wedding invitations and evening invitations too. Watch this space!!!! 

What else from me you ask? Well I have a few other things in the pipeline regarding new ideas for cards that I am currently working on and I am perfecting my talent of a few new types of card making too which I will have for sale on my website in the next few months.”
