Drummers Wanted! Top Sticksmen Back World Record Attempt
In 2009 Stick it to MS raised £66,315 for The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society with almost 600 drummers all coming together in Birmingham and playing the same drumbeat for five minutes – breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest full drum kit ensemble in the process. This year it’s happening again, but this time 800 drummers are needed to break the world record. The 2012 Stick it to MS takes place at EventCity in Manchester on Sunday July 15.
If you want to get involved you need to register here, get some people to sponsor you (it’s for charity after all) and then on the day show up with a full drum kit (or rent one on the day) and the drum beat below under your belt.
Pete Salisbury from The Verve took part last time with his, then seven year old, son.
“It was a brilliant day, you could feel the excitement as you came into the arena and everyone has brought their kits. I spent the whole day looking at everyone’s kits, seeing what they’d brought,” he told Xfm.
Once again for the Guinness World Record we will need to play a simple beat for a minimum of five minutes. We have produced this video clip that we will project on to a big screen at Stick it to MS. Please watch and listen to the clip so you know what you will be required to play.
Registration is now open!! So once you have registered please keep popping back to the site for all the latest news and sign up to our forums to start chatting with us. We’ve also got an RSS feed you can subscribe to.
