Brilliant Examples of Design by Lancashire Creative Matthew Blewitt

Here we feature hugely talented designer and digital illustrator Matthew Blewitt. Having graduated from the University of Leeds with a BA Hons in New Media & Music, Matthew has been working as a freelance web and graphic designer, gaining valuable experience along the way. Currently out and about on his travels, Matthew is clearly one to watch for the future.

“I consider myself to be a Web Designer and Digital Illustrator. I love to combine the creative side of digital illustration with the more ´geeky´ aspects of web design. Most of the websites I create are hand coded in software like Notepad or if I’m on my Mac, with Text Wrangler. When it comes to illustrating, the Adobe Suite is my God. I’m particularly fond of illustrator as most of my work is vector.

I came from a traditional fine art background until I discovered the wonderful world of Graphic Design. Going to university in Leeds and taking a Media course allowed me to experiment and eventually specialise in subjects I felt the most passion for. I was born in USA and lived in Italy for a while before moving to Lancashire around the age of 14.  I’ve got to say I love the North. I’m currently travelling around South America and will be returning to the UK in the summer!

I’m inspired by many great illustrators and designers; Mark Verhaagen has been a big influence as well as Jared Nickerson. I love those crisp details vector graphics some of these great illustrators create. Here are a few examples of my work:

The Christmas Town

Purple Buddha

Smooth Path

Toy Box

Happy Birthday

Untold Deception

Thanks for reading!”
