Art and Textiles with SkyBlueSea Founder Suzanne Harulow!

This afternoon’s piece features Suzanne Harulow, a keen and talented artist and owner of textile business SkyBlueSea. Taking inspiration from the beauty of nature, nostalgia of old memories and occasions, and the comfort of family and friends, Suzanne creates bespoke gifts and artwork that truly resonate and speak a thousand words:

“I am Bolton born and bred! I Graduated with a degree in Embroidered Textiles many moons ago (1990) from Manchester Metropolitan University and now, I am a freelance artist, working to both public and private commission (clients include The Royal Bolton Hospital and The Market Place). I set up my company SkyBlueSea in 2006 and have shops on both Etsy and Notonthehighstreet.com. I also write a blog, which you can find at http://www.skyblueseaskybluesea.com.

I work as an artist in the community and have worked on several Bolton-based arts consultations (clients including the GMPTE, Moses Gate Country Park and the NHS), as well as working in over 100 Bolton schools with projects run by Artists in Schools, Bolton.

In 2007 I was pleased to be one of four North West artists to be invited on an International Artists exchange to America, where I worked in Pittsburgh (in which I ran workshops at the Children’s Musuem) and in rural Pennsylvania.

I joined Neoartists in 2010 to help me focus on creating work to exhibit. Having acquired a studio there, I am thrilled to be now working alongside other artists and having access to such great printmaking resources in Bolton town centre.

As well as exhibiting last year with Neoartitsts, my work was also selected for the West lancashire Open Art Exhibition, Chapel Gallery, Ormskirk and Bolton Art Gallery. My long-term goal is to create a body of work for a solo show and to exhibit my work internationally!”
