Marine and Wildlife Photography by Manchester Creative Ryan Johnson
This afternoon’s feature showcases a hugely talented and motivated individual with a boundless passion for photography. Ryan Johnson’s skill is clear for all to see in some truly breathtaking shots. Here’s what Ryan had to say to Business Boom as well as some of his best images, including several from his underwater collections:
“I am a Manchester based Photographer. During the week I can be found photographing families, pets and weddings and at weekends you may find me 100 feet below the water photographing all sorts of weird and wonderful marine life. I think you would struggle to find me not taking my camera anywhere with an opportunity to do so. I love every aspect of photography, whether I am doing my day job in the studio, sat in the cold for hours photographing wildlife or having a stroll around town photographing the architecture.
I first began to take my photography more seriously when I enrolled on an Interactive Media course at Bury College; it was a mix of digital design, media, life drawing and photography. I took the plunge and bought my first digital SLR and its been stuck in my bag ever since. From my course at Bury College I decided against going to university and ended up with a job in a photography studio photographing families, babys and weddings. I found my design background very advantageous as I could build my own websites, design stationary and use social media to promote myself.
I am now focusing more on my Wildlife and Underwater photography as I really love being outdoors and getting close to some spectacular animals, it’s amazing what you can find around you that we take for granted. Only a year ago I was in the water with Basking sharks in Cornwall, Diving with Atlantic seals and on one of the largest UK seabird colonies photographing puffins and terns.
The world is a fantastic and beautiful place, so take inspiration from others around you and go for it, its easy to make excuses for yourself when really all you need is a camera and passion and it will take you anywhere.
Thanks Ryan, good luck with everything in the future and we look forward to seeing more of your brilliant work.
